Drapes vs Blinds: Which Are Right for Your Windows?
Drapes and blinds are two of the most classic window treatments. You can incorporate them into every interior; they each have benefits and drawbacks, so how do you choose the right one for your windows? The Creative Window Fashions team shares your options to help you decide.
Hunter Douglas Blinds vs Drapes
Before you choose the window treatments for a room, consider its purpose and the mood you want to create. Do you need blackout conditions for restful sleep or privacy as you go about your day? Horizontal and vertical blinds are more versatile but may not provide the light control and privacy you want. Blinds are excellent for subtle interiors, while drapery blends well with formal, sophisticated atmospheres.
Drapes give rooms a luxurious appearance and can create the illusion of taller ceilings. You can choose from hundreds of fabrics, including linen, cotton, and silk, and various header styles. Make your drapery stand out with eye-catching hardware and finials, or allow it to blend in with the surrounding décor.
You should also consider the room's environment. Bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens are not the best places for velvet drapes or hardwood blinds because they have higher humidity than other rooms.
